My name is Adrian Echano, and I am from the Philippines. Back home, I was a data analyst, mostly performing jobs related to economics (world commodity prices, price and supply of basic goods in the Philippines, trades, and policies on consumer protection, among others). When I came to Canada, I chose to study Information Technology because, ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with computers and how various technologies can do amazing things and help humans with our daily lives.

My areas of interest in Information Technology are AI, cloud technology, and hardware. Right now, my strength is more on the hardware since I have experience building my own PC and have some experience in troubleshooting. I want to develop my coding skills because I think this is my ultimate weakness when it comes to IT. For me to land my dream job in this industry, I need to have at least average knowledge and skills in coding.

In our Emerging Technologies (INTP-301) class, I would like to discover emerging technologies that are existing and still developing, aside from AI, blockchain, and quantum computing. I know a bit about blockchain because I played NFT games before, and of course, I know about AI, which is prevalent and shifting how the industry and corporates work nowadays.

Emerging technologies are in-development technological innovations that can have a huge potential impact on our lives. They are the result of societal and economic needs. If accepted by society, emerging technologies can benefit us in the fields of healthcare, communication, and transportation, but they can also inflict serious harm and damage if used improperly.
